Members of the Benghazi Shura Council have issued a written statement condemning their former allies from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) for attacking their militants inside the Libyan coastal city of Derna this past weekend.
The Benghazi Shura Council is comprised of several groups that are allied to the international terrorist group “Al-Qaeda” – the largest group in this Islamist coalition is Ansar Al-Sharia.
Recently, ISIS and the Shura Council began clashing inside the strategic city of Derna; however, the fighting is likely to intensify as both terrorist groups expand their influence in the Libyan countryside.
