Egypt has announced it will be offering China investment projects into electric-generation, railway and train carriage constructions, and many others. These will be proposed during Chinese President Xi Jingpang’s visit to Cairo in February.
The new railway network will include an electric train connection from Ramadan to El-Sallam, a goods line between Bilbeis and Roubiky and another line between Alexandria and Abu Qir.
According to the statement, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail met with the ministerial commission that is preparing for Jinping’s upcoming visit. The commission includes the ministries of Housing, Electricity, Investment, Agriculture, Trade and Industry, Transportation, International Cooperation, Higher Education, and Culture and the chairperson of General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also offered to China to build an industrial zone for leather in Roubiky as well as the establishment of a Chinese university.
Another center for research on agriculture mechanism will be offered to support the 1.5m acres project that the government is currently reclaiming as well as a centre for recycling agricultural wastes and the production of organic fertilisers.
These still remain just snippets of Egyptian proposals for Chinese investment, with a full detailed plan to be revealed in February.
