Yesterday, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a new offensive to capture the oil fields inside the city of Maradah in northern Libya.
The ISIS fighters storming this city were confronted by a large rebel force that was able to hold them off for the most part; however, the terrorist group was still able to stake their place in the northern flank of Maradah.
ISIS has recently targeted Libya’s oil rich cities in order to seize the oil reserves and trade it on the black market.
However, ISIS has been relatively unsuccessful thus far, as the anti-ISIS forces have repeatedly repelled each assault by the terrorist group.
