The recent discovery of natural gas reserves in the Homs Desert has paved the way for the Syrian government to revive dozens of unused gas wells as part of a large-scale project to boost economic conditions around the country.
According to a government official in Damascus, the Sadad gas well should produce an estimated half million cubic meters a day, making it the largest natural gas reserve in Syria.
In addition to reviving the gas wells, the Syrian government is in the process of reviving the Aleppo Thermal Power Plant after being out of commission for three and a half years due to the war.

Once revived, civilians living inside of Aleppo City will have a steady current of electricity for the first time since the war spread to the provincial capital.
