BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:25 P.M.) – Egyptian President ‘Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi told MENA News Agency on Tuesday that his government will prevent the Syrian conflict from deteriorating.
“Egypt will also go on in maintaining the rights of the Syrian people and their interests based on the firm stances of preserving the unity of the Syrian territories,” the president told the visiting United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
Sisi noted that Egypt was ready to intensify its contacts with other parties to reach a permanent political solution to the long-standing conflict based on common concepts.

Egypt has played the role of mediator in this conflict and has worked vigorously to produce a peaceful settlement that maintains the will of the people and Syria’s territorial integrity.
