Egyptian Army has launched a wide-scale military campaign against the Islamic State in Sinai province in latest crackdown on the terror group.
Egyptian Air Force was heavily engaged in the operation by carrying out several airstrikes which successfully destroyed up to 21 targets in including technical vehicles, headquarters and weapons caches.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s military and security forces have managed to kill at least 30 ‘armed extremists’ and arrest dozen others following fierce clashes in northern and central Sinai.

Huge quantities of weapons including machineguns and sniper rifles, as well as communication devices, IEDs and explosive have been also seized in the process.
The recent raids are part of a major security operation dubbed “Operation Sinai 2018” launched last February which involves the army, navy, air force and police, and aims at targeting and destroying “terrorist and criminal elements and organisations” in northern and central Sinai.
