Libyan Army warns against violating sovereignty by land, air, sea

BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:20 P.M.) – The General Command of the Libyan National Army warned this week against any attempt to violate the sovereignty of Libya, whether by penetrating the territorial waters, the country’s land borders, or its national airspace.

The General Command said that, through the follow up work of the monitoring and warning units, it became evident that foreign aircraft were attempting to enter the Libyan airspace without coordination or prior permission from the Libyan competent authorities entrusted with the task of setting the necessary arrangements for the crossing of planes, via internationally known lines.

The LNA’s General Command warned that any attempt to penetrate the Libyan airspace “might expose the aircraft to the risk of being intercepted and destroyed by the Libyan Arab Air Defenses.”
While the Libyan National Army did not specifically name the foreign country or entity that has conducted flights and shipped equipment to Libya, the message was no doubt intended for Turkey, who is currently the biggest supporter of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).

Recently, Turkish aircraft and ships have been observed heading to and from Libya, despite accusations from the Libyan National Army about the illegal delivery of arms to the country.
