Following a suicide bomb that killed 12 presidential guards on a bus and two gun assaults on tourists at a museum and and on the beach, Tunisia has been in a state of emergency.
Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi has extended the state of emergency till February 21, 2016. This allows the president and the state security apparatus greater power whilst suspending some rights.
This extension was made in collaboration with the prime minister and the parliament speaker.
